Accessory Dwelling Units

Granny Flats – Guest House – Mother-In-Law Suite

What is an ADU?

Accessory Dwelling Units, which are sometimes called granny flats, guest houses, or even mother-in-law suites are extra living units that can be either attached or detached from your main home but located on the same lot. These units provide complete, independent living facilities and have their own living area, bedrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms.  A Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit is similar to an ADU but is located within the main home (think of a garage conversion).

With state and federal laws becoming more lenient, ADUs are gaining in popularity. An ADU can have many benefits such as increasing your property value, providing rental income, and possibly even tax benefits.

Why would you consider an ADU?

ADUs can serve many purposes such as providing housing for elderly parents or older kids that are not able to afford a place of their own. Though most areas prohibit the use of an ADU for short stays such as an Airbnb, in most cases you are able to use your unit for long-term rentals.

How Much Does it Cost To Build an ADU?

The cost to build an ADU depends on several things, including the size of the unit, the ADU design style, the location and condition of the building lot, and the cost of materials and labor.

Our contractors would be happy to meet with you to discuss the details of your ADU and give you an estimate or full quote on building your ADU.
